My darling girl is five tomorrow. I can hardly believe it - she still seems so small to my mind. She's been at proper school since January, and today she came home and read me a book out loud from cover to cover. Every day I fall in love with her all over again.

She's having a tea party here with her friends. I'm determined to make it perfect for her.

My darling girl seems to be older every day. School, she informs me, is boring and the teachers are now making them do "real work" instead of playing with sand and clay and paint.

I'm glad of this, if I'm being honest. I'm going to be saving a lot by buying normal washing powder for clothes instead of extra-strong to use every wash. 

The other night was scary, but I don't wish to dwell on that now. It's ok, we're fine and we're going to keep on trying and living.

Work is good, though sadly a woman in the hospital died the other day. It's always a shame when that happens, and this woman had a hard time. My thoughts are with her.

She's a gem, really.

He was scared just in the way that I'm scared, my darling. I was scared and I still am, but I try every day to not let it show.

I'll be there for you.

Stefan's back. Stefan's in London and he came to see me.
He wants to be a father to Sophie.

All through our afternoon in the park, Sophie was asking why her mummy is so happy. And I don't know, but I think that it is all good news. A hospital, a hospital is interested in my research. They can help me and I can help them!

The term has almost ended and I am free to use the library and labs for as long as I wish, but there may be something new on the horizon for me.

So, Sophie darling, I'm happy because I am on the edge of a change. And I love you, my little one. Now stop moaning, I'll take you out now.
